Who are we?
We are the original and most popular weekly boat party in Budapest, and one of the largest and most famous in all of Europe. Our team of party hosts come from all over the world - some are local, some are international travelers making a life here in Budapest for a few months to a few years. Our goal is to show our guests the best time possible, while also keeping them safe and making sure, to the best of our ability, that they party responsibly. Our reviews alone prove how much we care about the quality of our service, and we care just as much about our team.
We are more than just a place of work - all of the staff we have worked with over the years have, in one way or another, become part of our family, and when COVID hit, we stuck together as much as we could, for as long as it took. Who are our guests?
We wish we could say that the loud, obnoxious British stag groups aren’t a thing at our parties. But we would be lying. Sometimes our guests can be a pain in the ass, but that doesn’t mean we don’t try to please every one of them to the best of our ability. Most of our guests are just young and bright-eyed travellers trying to enjoy life to the fullest, and sometimes they do drink a little too much. But usually a cool drink of water (which we always give for free) is all they need to be OK again. And our party hosts are always there to help them when they need it! In between, we get a lot of real heroes, who see the effort we put into our work and do what they can to help out and make it a great experience for everyone. Those are the guests that make our job the greatest in the world.
Who are we looking for?
You’re a perfect candidate for this position if:
- You are proficient in both Hungarian and English (advanced or near-fluent level)
- You can handle assholes while keeping your cool and staying professional
- You believe in providing the highest level of service to customers
- You have experience in bar management, including some back office management
- You also have some experience with event management
- You are well accustomed to working in high-stress environments
- You enjoy working in an international environment
- You are not opposed to working on Fridays and Saturdays, all year round
- You’re a team player, who leads by example and treats others with respect, always
- You’re willing to go the extra mile when needed, and can work on your own initiative
Responsibilities
- Managing drink + snack inventory (bi-weekly inventory reports + ordering)
- Keeping contact with all suppliers and maintaining a friendly relationship
- Receiving delivery orders, and ensuring they are put away correctly
- Recruiting, hiring, training and motivating bar staff on an ongoing basis
- Maintaining an excellent relationship with the boat provider and their staff
- Ensuring the proper setup and packdown of the bar before and after each event
- Overseeing the work of the sound and light tech team, and keeping contact with DJs and security staff
- Being on hand to assist Event Managers with emerging issues during the event
- Instructing and supervising the bar team to ensure that BBP’s service standards are always being met to the best of your ability.
Working hours
On Season: 35-40hrs/week (3-4 nights/week, including Friday and Saturday nights)
Off Season: 15-25hrs/week (1-2 nights/week, including Friday and Saturday nights)
Sundays are always free, but on NYE and some public holidays you may be required to work.
Compensation and Benefits
